Deepavali

Deepavali

Deepavali is one of the national festivals of India. In North India people call the same festival “Diwali”.  It falls sometime in the last week of October or the first week of November every year.
We can say that Deepavali is a festival which is celebrated by every religion, because it is a lighting festival.

There are all sorts of stories about why we celebrate Deepavali. The most popular story is that God killed a giant called Narakasura and every year on that day we celebrate Deepavali.

A week before Deepavali, the houses are cleaned and decorated beautifully. On Deepavali Day people wear new clothes, and also they make different types of sweets and distribute sweets to their family members and friends. Deepavali is festival of lights so many rows of lights and  keep them in their houses. It is looks very beautiful to see thousands of lights burning in rows.

Children have a lot of fun because they burst crackers. All family members  join together and celebrating the Deepavali.
