Deepavali
Deepavali is one of the national festivals of India. In North India people call the same festival “Diwali”. It falls sometime in the last week of October or the first week of November every year.
We can say
that Deepavali is a festival which is celebrated by every religion, because it
is a lighting festival.
There are
all sorts of stories about why we celebrate Deepavali. The most popular story
is that God killed a giant called Narakasura and every year on that day we
celebrate Deepavali.
A week
before Deepavali, the houses are cleaned and decorated beautifully. On
Deepavali Day people wear new clothes, and also they make different types of
sweets and distribute sweets to their family members and friends. Deepavali is
festival of lights so many rows of lights and
keep them in their houses. It is looks very beautiful to see thousands
of lights burning in rows.
Children
have a lot of fun because they burst crackers. All family members join together and celebrating the
Deepavali.
